HAGERSTOWN, Maryland—The People’s Convoy, a large caravan of vehicles led by trucks, will be moving slowly around the Beltway on Sunday morning in efforts to stop the government’s COVID-19 emergency powers. The group “plans to circle the Beltway at least twice” on Sunday to send a message to the U.S. government and lawmakers, and “has been working with local and state law enforcement to find the best time to travel,” a spokesperson told The Epoch Times. The Beltway refers to a 64-mile interstate highway that surrounds Washington, D.C., as well as Maryland and Virginia. Virginia and Maryland State Police have issued traffic notices saying they will be increasing patrol in the region to mitigate potential traffic disruptions. The convoy will be traveling at the minimum permitted speed to slow down traffic but not stop it, a convoy organizer confirmed.
