Federal and local officials are probing the fatal shooting of a man in Arizona by a U.S. Border Patrol agent late Saturday, Feb. 19. The shooting occurred a few miles north of the Mexico border near of the Arizona town of Douglas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) area spokesman John Mennell said on Monday. Mennell said the CBP had launched an investigation with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office into the fatal shooting in the Skeleton Canyon area of the Peloncillo Mountains. Mexican Consulate officials were notified of the man’s death, the spokesman said. The Epoch Times contacted the Mexican Consulate in Douglas for comment.
