Paciorek is listed in the Major League Baseball record books as having a “perfect” batting average of 1.000. There are 27 players in baseball history who have had a major league “career” with a 1.000 batting average, but only one—Paciorek—actually had more than two at-bats. Paciorek had three at-bats, getting a hit each time, in a remarkable game played on Sept. 29, 1963. Paciorek, just 18 years old at the time, was called up from the minor leagues to play for the Houston Colt .45s in the final game of the regular season.
