Tesla announced on Feb. 1, that it will recall 53,822 cars and SUVs as its Full Self-Driving Beta (FSD Beta) software allows certain models to make rolling stops at intersections, posing a safety risk, in accordance with U.S, government auto safety regulators. According to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall will cover 2016-2022 Model S and Model X, 2017-2022 Model 3, and 2020-2022 Model Y vehicles. The NHTSA said that the automated navigational software known as FSD Beta, allows vehicles to travel through all-way stop intersections at up to 0.1 mph to 5.6 miles per hour without first coming to a stop. Tesla said it will disable the feature with an over-the-internet software update that disables the “rolling stop” functionality in early February, according to the NHTSA.
