The Senate has confirmed more first-year nominees for the Biden administration than it did for the Trump administration, according to a report from the non-profit Partnership for Public Service’s Center for Presidential Transition. However, the number of confirmations fell behind what was confirmed for the Obama and Bush administrations, the report said. The report, dated Jan. 10, tracked nominations and confirmations for all civilian positions in the new administration from Jan. 20, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2021, and compared the number and rate of successful appointments to the first years of previous administrations. While President Joe Biden has made a higher number of nominations for government positions, 644 compared to Trump’s 555, Congress has only confirmed 355 of Biden’s nominees—a significant drop from the 505 confirmed for President George W.
