Florida has secured approximately 1 million self-administered COVID-19 tests and will be distributing them to nursing homes and senior facilities first, it was announced Jan. 6. Kevin Guthrie, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, said the at-home tests will begin to be sent out immediately. The number of tests shipped out will be dependent upon how many beds the facility has, Guthrie said. Those sites can then ask for more kits if they are needed, he added.
