At least 12 people were killed in a stampede at a religious shrine in Kashmir, India, while a dozen others were injured as tens of thousands of pilgrims came to the temple to offer prayers on New Year’s Eve. The incident happened at around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan shrine, one of the most popular temples in India, Press Trust of Kashmir reported. Police were quick to launch a rescue operation and found that at least 12 people were crushed to death in the stampede incident, and 15 others were injured and hospitalized.
