An Ontario mayor says there are reasons for “cautious optimism” given the low hospitalization and low severe cases in his city despite the highly transmissible Omicron variant that is prevalent now. Speaking at a press conference Wednesday morning, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said the Brampton Civic Hospital, the only hospital in his city, has reported at that time only 20 people hospitalized for COVID-19 and down to only two admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
