The Israeli government on Monday agreed to add the United States and nine other nations to the list of “red” countries amid concerns over the spread of the Omicron variant of the CCP virus. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in a Dec. 20 press release that government officials had approved in a telephone vote to ban all non-essential travel to 10 countries in total. Besides the United States, countries defined by Israel as “red countries” include Canada, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Morocco, Portugal, Switzerland, and Turkey. “The cabinet ministers have now approved … the expansion of the list of red countries in accordance with the recommendation of the Health Ministry State Classification Committee pursuant to a discussion that was held yesterday at the Cabinet meeting,” Bennett’s office said.
