High-powered offense was not part of the game plan for either team Tuesday night when Texas Tech and 13th-ranked Tennessee squared off in the opening game of the Jimmy V Classic in New York. The result was a bloody-knuckle battle, especially in the second half when scoring was a struggle on both ends of the court, and it took extra time to settle the outcome. Texas Tech pulled off the upset, 57–52 in overtime, despite shooting 31.1 percent (19-for-61) from the floor and 4-for-24 (16.7 percent) from 3-point range.
