Private sector workers will have to get a COVID-19 vaccine or face termination, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday. “We have decided to use a pre-emptive strike to really do something bold to stop the further growth of COVID and the dangers it’s causing to all of us,” the mayor said. The Democrat made the announcement during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” The rationale behind the mandate is the Omicron virus variant, colder weather, and upcoming holiday gatherings.
