Eight teams were announced to inaugurate a new professional USFL football league that kicks off in April 2022. There are no ties to the original USFL that existed from 1983–85. Fox Sports ownership made the announcement on Monday on FS1, Colin Cowherd’s show, “The Herd.” The franchises are divided into two divisions of North and South; and will play 10 games in the regular season. Both divisions will be comprised of four teams, that will play in one city for the 2022 season; the franchises will play home and away schedules beginning the following season. The North Division will include the New Jersey Generals, Michigan Panthers, Philadelphia Stars, and Pittsburgh Maulers.
