The Northern Territory (NT) government will introduce new public health measures in remote communities where less than 70 percent of residents have had their first COVID-19 shot. According to Northern Territory Health, from Nov.15 anyone entering these communities from Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, or outside the Territory will have to wear a mask in public areas for seven days, and from Nov.19 they will also need to test negative to COVID-19 within 72 hours of entering a community. This comes on the back of Doherty Institute modelling, which has set a higher benchmark for remote communities, meaning the 80 percent double-dosed target will now extend to those aged five to eleven.
