Nicholas Burns, the Biden administration’s nominee to the U.S. ambassador to China, called the CCP out on its display of aggression on the international stage as well as abuses on Tibet and Taiwan at an Oct. 20 confirmation hearing. The Confirmation Hearing for Ambassadors to China and Japan was held on Capitol Hill in Washington. The hearing saw senators question Burns on a host of topics including countering the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Partry (CCP), its human rights abuses, the United States’ stance on Taiwan–China relations, and other U.S. interests concerning China.
