EUGENE, Ore.—Music can tell a story and express emotions without the use of words. The music of Shen Yun Performing Arts has touched thousands upon thousands of audience members at the Hult Center on Sunday. “The music was wonderful, wonderful. Especially that instrument that had the two strings, that was beautiful. Just beautiful,” Mark Patrzik said after attending New York-based Shen Yun with his wife, Chandra. Mr. Patrzik was referring to the two-stringed erhu, an ancient instrument that had found its popularity in China. It is one of several Chinese instruments that feature in Shen Yun’s live orchestra. “It was very interesting. It’s amazing how much music you can get out of that two strings.
