The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday said it will form a new advisory group to study the origins of novel pathogens, including the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which caused the global COVID-19 pandemic. The new team, named Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO), will be tasked with advising the WHO on investigations into pathogens that might trigger the next pandemic, as well as study the origin of the CCP virus, which first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in 2019. The WHO proposed 26 members whose expertise cover a wide range of areas, from epidemiology to genomics to molecular biology.
