LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has seen a nearly 6 percent drop in enrollment this year, it was reported Sept. 28. The district has 439,013 students in preschool through 12th grade, compared to 466,229 last year at this time, according to the Los Angeles Times, which cited an annual count known as “norm day,” made on the fifth Friday of every new school year. The data is expected to be presented at Tuesday’s meeting of the district’s Board of Education.
