SANTA ANA, Calif.—Orange County’s number of coronavirus hospitalizations dropped slightly, according to the most recent data released by the state, falling from 312 Saturday to 309, with the number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care declining from 85 to 80. The county has 22.6 percent of its intensive care unit beds available and 66 percent of its ventilators, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA). On Friday, the county reported 356 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 additional deaths, bringing its totals to 295,227 cases and 5,384 fatalities since the pandemic began. The OCHCA does not report COVID-19 statistics on the weekend. The 13 latest deaths consisted of 12 in August and one in December. There have been 39 coronavirus-related deaths reported this month.
