Fear of economic retaliation from Beijing has in part led the world to turn a blind eye as the Chinese regime kills innocents and forcibly harvests their organs for profit, a physician told a global human rights summit. The World Summit on Combating and Preventing Forced Organ Harvesting, consisting of six webinars over two weeks, took off on Sept. 17 with over 2,000 virtual audience members attending the live-streamed event on the first day. The state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting has taken place in China for years “on a significant scale,” and a principal victim of the abuse is adherents of the persecuted faith group Falun Gong, according to findings from an independent London-based tribunal in 2019.
