The United States Postal Service (USPS) is looking to fill 40,000 openings to its high delivery demands for the 2021 holiday season. The USPS is reaching its peak of the year for mail and package deliveries. Tens of thousands of seasonal positions open every year to make sure all the mail gets delivered on time. Last year, USPS hired more than 50,000 seasonal workers and still caused widespread delays. As COVID-19 fuels a surge in online shopping, mail carriers such as United Parcel Service and USPS had reported package backlog and had to cut off new delivery orders for some retailers just weeks before Christmas in 2020. To avoid unnecessary delays, USPS encouraged its customers to send holiday gifts as soon as possible, according to a statement released by USPS last holiday season.
