Ronald Reagan’s famous quote has taken on a new meaning for many after 15 days to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, morphed into more than 15 months of lockdowns and an increasing number of vaccination mandates springing up nationwide. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, American society as a whole has seen an endless number of examples of just how badly things go awry when the government steps in to make a situation “better.” The federal government extended unemployment benefits to the point where businesses can’t find workers to hire now that they’ve reopened. The federal government was also driving small and medium-sized landlords into the poor house through unconstitutional eviction moratoriums.
