A new COVID-19 alert was announced on Friday for the Woolworths and Chemist Warehouse in the northern beaches of Sydney’s Avalon suburb. Officials advise that anyone who has visited the Avalon Woolworths between the specified times from Jan. 2 to Jan. 6 should get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received. Anyone who has visited the Chemist Warehouse in Avalon on Sunday, Jan. 3 between 1 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. must also undergo the same procedures. The alert comes after a man who tested positive had visited these venues after the initial cut-off of the northern beaches. Chief Health Officer Dr. Kerry Chant said the man only experienced symptoms after he had finished his initial quarantine from returning overseas.
