As Michelle Steel took her place in Congress as representative of California’s 48th District on Jan. 3, her colleagues on the Orange County Board of Supervisors expressed well wishes and optimism for her in her new role. Steel served as supervisor for the county’s District 2, and she was chair of the board in 2017 and 2020. Supervisor Don Wagner told The Epoch Times he’s optimistic about Steele’s position in Congress. He said it’s great that someone who is intimately aware of the most important issues in Orange County will be in the Capitol. “She understands our issues, lived them, and is going to be a very good advocate for us at the federal level,” he said.
