Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he opposes the mostly Democratic-backed Jan. 6 Capitol breach commission announced by a group of lawmakers on the House Homeland Security Committee last week. The independent commission, as envisioned by House members, would have the power to issue subpoenas.
