Polls opened Monday in Alberta at 9 a.m. local time and closed at 8 p.m. in what political analysts have called one of the closest elections in the province’s history.
All that remains now is for the ballots to be counted. There are 87 seats up for grabs in the Legislature. In this election, 49 UCP candidates and 19 NDP candidates are looking to be reelected in their respective ridings.
Albertans will soon find out if voters made the decision to return the incumbent United Conservative Party (UCP) and leader Danielle Smith to power, or bring back the New Democratic Party and leader Rachel Notley who were in power before the 2019 election….
