BALTIMORE, Md.—Robert Kennick, a retired musician from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Hippodrome Theatre on April 29.
Mr. Kennick played percussion instruments in orchestras, including drums, xylophone, marimba, and cymbals, for 40 years. Of the performance, Mr. Kennick said, “Oh, marvelous, marvelous. I love it,” and noted the erhu musician. “That lady with a two string instrument, that was really something else. I really enjoyed that,” he said.
With his music background, Mr. Kennick commented on the erhu: “I have heard about that instrument, but I never heard it played. And so now I know what it sounds like. And the different sounds that she can get out of it. It’s very interesting.”…
