A Taiwanese military veteran is now a renowned needle felting expert who handcrafts her signature art pieces, replicas of the popular breakfast bread—the polo bun or pineapple bun—and much more, bringing art to our daily lives.
Lei Hsiao-Chen, a native of Taoyuan County, Taiwan, developed an interest in art at an early age. Her love for handicrafts continued during her 16 years of military life working as a Petty Officer 1st Class in the Taiwanese Navy. In 2017, she decided to start her own business in needle felting, a step that, she says, was not taken on impulse.
The renowned artist, who also had the chance to craft a special birthday gift for the President of Taiwan in 2019, has won several awards over the years….
