POMONA, Calif.—A man was arrested March 20 after barricading himself inside a Pomona home, prompting a standoff that attracted a large police presence and forced the shutdown of surrounding streets.
According to the Pomona Police Department, officers responded to the 600 block of North Reservoir Street around 4:15 a.m. following a call from a woman who reported being concerned for her friend’s wellbeing.
Police responded to the scene, learning that the suspect—later identified as 29-year-old Ricardo Alvarado—may be armed with a gun. According to police, a woman escaped from the residence by crawling out a window, but a second female was still inside with the suspect….
