Southwestern Ontario and Quebec has some of the poorest quality river water in Canada, according to Environment Canada.
A report released on Feb. 23, “Water Quality in Canadian Rivers,” rates water quality at various rivers in Canada from the 2018 to 2020 period. At 83 percent of monitored sites, water quality in Canada’s rivers was rated as fair to excellent, as first reported by Blacklock’s Reporter.
At 60 percent of the locations studied, water quality had not changed between 2002 and 2020. However, the water quality had deteriorated in 30 percent of the locations.
“Calculated trends using data from 2002 to 2020 show no site with improved water quality. During that same period water quality has deteriorated at 24 sites,” said the report….
