The global sperm counts have fallen more than 50 percent in the last 46 years, and the drop is accelerating, according to a recent meta-analysis.
The researchers’ recent study is an update of their influential 2017 study, including data collection of an additional seven years and from regions not reviewed previously. The study found that the decline rate was more than 2.6 percent per year from 2000, compared to 1.16 percent annually from 1972.
