BERKELEY, Calif.—Fashion entrepreneur Angela Guevara, who attended Shen Yun’s matinee performance at Zellerbach Hall on Jan. 15, said the performance brought on “a cocktail of emotions.”
“It’s not just art, it’s spiritual, it’s historical. It just gives you a whole range of knowledge,” she said.
Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts was founded in 2006 by a group of leading Chinese artists determined to revive China’s 5,000 years of culture back to its pre-communist glory.
Upon hearing that Shen Yun is currently banned by the communist regime from performing in China, Ms. Guevara said, “I think I’m very blessed [to have seen the show.] It’s a privilege. I really feel like I grew so much today. I was tearing up.”…
