Sydneysiders could learn what rules will apply to their New Year’s Eve parties on Monday, as Sydney’s Avalon cluster tops 120 cases. New South Wales Police broke up a party at North Bondi, fining 11 young people for failing to comply with COVID-19 rules. It’s one of a number of breaches of gathering restrictions in Sydney’s eastern suburbs during the Christmas holiday period and comes after Sydney’s Avalon cluster topped 120 cases on Sunday. At least 40 people were at the party and most ran away when officers arrived just after 11 p.m. on Boxing Day. Two women and nine men were fined $1000 each for breaking COVID rules, which limit indoor gatherings to 10 visitors in greater Sydney.
