If you’ve been following news about machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years, you’ve probably heard something about GPT-3. It’s a generative language model—meaning a software tool that can produce texts (sentences, paragraphs, and even full articles) that seem to have been written by humans.
It’s easy to use: Just type in any text, and GPT-3 will “complete” what you write. For example, when I typed “Why is it dangerous to drive over the speed limit?” the model more or less instantly gave me the following auto-generated response: “It is dangerous to drive over the speed limit because it increases the chance of getting into an accident. When people drive faster than the posted speed limit, they have less time to react to things that happen on the road. This can lead to accidents.”…
