In the past two weeks, more than 60 percent of Korean employees at South Korean diplomatic and consular offices across China have been infected with COVID-19, as a new wave of the virus sweeps through the country.
South Korea has announced that it will suspend its issuing of short-term visas in China from Jan. 2 to Jan. 31.
Rep. Lee Jae-ting, a member of the main opposition Democratic Party in South Korea, told the media on Dec. 30 that about 240 South Korean staff members among the total 380 in its 10 diplomatic and consular offices in China have tested positive for COVID, which is a 63 percent infection rate, South Korean media Yonhap News Agency reported, adding that Lee said her office verified the information with the South Korean foreign ministry….
