House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) recently revealed that he had previously contracted COVID-19 and found out about it late last year when he tested positive for CCP virus antibodies. McCarthy told reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that he tested positive for antibodies against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, before he went in for a surgery on his elbow in December 2020. The Republican leader said that a doctor informed him at the time that he had most likely contracted the disease “within the last two months.” He said he took a COVID-19 vaccine during the interim period while waiting for his blood test results to return that showed he had CCP virus antibodies.
