House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) attempt to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for the failure in dealing with the border crisis would not likely succeed, according to an immigration expert.
On Nov. 22, McCarthy said that the House of Representatives would start impeachment procedures against Mayorkas when the 118th Congress convenes on Jan. 3. McCarthy is expected to succeed Democrat Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House. Talking to reporters at El Paso, McCarthy asked for Mayorkas’s resignation. “If Secretary Mayorkas was in charge of a private company, he would have been fired by now. The American public deserves more and expects better. Enough is enough,” he said….
