The European Court of Human Rights (Court) unanimously found that the extradition of a Taiwanese to China, which Poland’s courts had cleared earlier, would place him at significant risk of torture, ill-treatment, and deprivation of the right to a fair trial, the European human right NGO, Safeguard Defenders, reported.
The NGO indicated that the unanimous decision is a very clear rejection of extradition because of violation of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), torture, and ill-treatment.
