Dozens of pianists joined the 2022 NTD International Piano Competition in New York City, with preliminaries taking place on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30, 2022.
The semi-finals took place on Oct. 31, 2022, where pianists performed “The Sacred Journey,” commissioned specifically for the competition.
Six finalists were announced.
Baryshevskyi Antonii from Ukraine, is a soloist with the National Philharmonie of Ukraine and first prize winner of the 2014 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. He will perform Liszt’s 2 Concert Etudes, S. 145 No. 1 “Waldesrauschen” and Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes.
Yung-Yi Chen from Taiwan debuted in 2009 at the age of 10 and has since performed on renowned stages across the world including the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum Salzburg. In the finals, Chen will perform Scarlatti’s Sonata in B minor, Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes No. 6, Chopin’s Nocturne in E flat major, Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy….
