In an article published on Oct. 19, an LA Times staff writer wrote, “Elder—a Black Republican who has denied the existence of systemic anti-Black racism, made derogatory remarks about women and once called former President Trump ‘almost God-sent’—emerged as the perfect foil for Newsom.”
In reaction to the above statement, Larry Elder says the following:
“I lost a recall by 24 points despite allegedly denying the existence of racism, saying negative things about women, which I never did, and saying Donald Trump is ‘God-sent’, which I did say because that’s what I believe. Brian Dahle is down 30 points; he said none of those things. He won’t even say whether or not he voted for Donald Trump, even though he’s a Republican. He is down by at least as much as I was, so maybe—just maybe—the things the LA Times has chosen as reasons for my defeat had nothing to do with my defeat.”…
