MONTREAL—Premier François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) is projected to win another majority as Quebecers headed to the polls on Monday.
As of 9 p.m. local time, CAQ had won or was leading in around 90 ridings. Before the election, the party had 76 out of 125 seats in the National Assembly.
The CAQ has currently close to 50 percent of the popular vote, with the four other main parties splitting almost evenly the other 50 percent.
Dominique Anglade’s Liberal Party (PLQ), which was the official opposition before dissolution, was not faring well early in the evening. The PLQ previously had 27 seats and is currently leading or has won in 20 ridings. However, the party still appears poised to remain the official opposition, with the closest party behind being Québec solidaire (QS), having won or is leading in 11 ridings….
