Canada’s Oscars’ selection in the category of Best International Feature Film will be screening in theatres across the country this week.
“Eternal Spring,” an animated documentary based on the true story of 18 brave Chinese citizens who tapped into a communist-controlled television station to screen uncensored news, has won multiple awards, including at the Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto, Movies That Matter in the Netherlands, and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece.
The film, directed by Torontonian Jason Loftus, is the first Mandarin-language film to ever be chosen to represent Canada at the Oscars and will be contending this year with films from at least 44 other countries in the International Feature Film category….
