The panel that advises the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on vaccine guidance advised the agency on Sept. 1 to recommend updated COVID-19 boosters for all Americans aged 12 and older.
All members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices but one voted yes to offer the advice a day after U.S. drug regulators authorized the Moderna and Pfizer boosters, which contain parts of the Wuhan and BA.4/BA.5 COVID-19 virus strains.
No clinical data is available for the boosters, which drew concern from several members of the advisory panel.
“I really do struggle with a vaccine that has no clinical data that has been reported for humans,” Dr. Oliver Brooks, one of the members, said during the meeting….
