Gov. Gavin Newsom awarded $694 million in funding toward 2,500 new homeless housing projects statewide for the program called Project Homekey. The governor announced the new projects last week in a news conference with U.S. Rep. Karen Bass and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Newsom said Aug. 24 the program funded 12,500 new homes in just two years and is “changing lives across the state.”
