The S&P 500 opened higher by 14.90 points, or 0.37 percent, at 4,087.33, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 77.10 points, or 0.63 percent, to 12,239.69 at the opening bell.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 14.01 points, or 0.04 percent, at the open to 32,515.62.
