The Department of Energy (DoE) has released more details in formal requests for information (RFI) on two major hydrogen energy initiatives funded through last year’s infrastructure bill. The first release concerns an $8 billion program to finance at least four regional hydrogen energy hubs across the United States. The second release concerns both a $1 billion program for hydrogen hydrolysis as well as a $500 million research & development program for hydrogen manufacturing as well as hydrogen technology recycling. The $9.5 billion in total funding is slated to last from 2022 through 2026. “It’s very exciting,” said Timothy Lipman, co-director of the Transportation Sustainability Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley, in an interview with The Epoch Times.
