A total of 58 people were shot in Chicago on the first days of Labor Day weekend, including seven children. Five were killed. Among the victims was a 4-year-old. The shooting numbers, based on police reports, are from the evening of Sept. 3 through the morning of Sept. 6. The 4-year-old boy, Mychal Moultry Jr., was struck twice in the head by shots that were fired from outdoors and went through the window of the residence he was in, located in the 6500 block of South Ellis Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department. After the shooting, which occurred just before 9 p.m. on Sept. 3, the boy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.
