Fifty-eight people have been shot in Chicago so far on Labor Day weekend, including seven children. Five were killed. Among the victims was a 4-year-old child. The shooting numbers, from police reports, are from Friday evening to early Monday. The young boy was struck twice in the head by shots that were fired from outdoors and went through the window of the residence he was in the 6500 block of South Ellis Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department. After the shooting, which happened just before 9 p.m., the boy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead. No one was in custody for the murder.
