WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.—A radio-collared mountain lion was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills, authorities said July 20.
The male mountain lion known as P-89 was just two years old. He was found dead early July 18 along the shoulder of the freeway between the DeSoto and Winnetka exits, according to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
He was struck around 2 a.m.
“… He is the 4th lion in our study to die from road mortality this year alone. Earlier this year, he had recently dispersed from his mother, P-65,” Santa Monica Mountains officials wrote on Twitter Wednesday….
