More research surrounding long COVID has found that the syndrome generally falls into one of four subtypes.
According to a study published in late December 2022, the subtypes are divided into four clusters of symptoms: cardiac and renal; respiratory, sleep, and anxiety; musculoskeletal and nervous system; and digestive and respiratory.
Combined, nearly 20 percent of Americans who were diagnosed with a COVID-19 infection reported later experiencing symptoms of long COVID.
Researchers from Cornell combed through about 35,000 sets of patient records from COVID “long haulers” to arrive at their conclusions. However, the date range for the data collected was from March 2020 to November 2021, meaning that it does not include any Omicron patients….
