Three-in-ten Canadians say they support the protest by the trucker convoy against COVID-19 vaccine mandates imposed by the Liberal government, a new poll finds. Published by the Innovative Research Group on Feb. 1, the poll shows that 31 percent of Canadians are supportive of the truckers who arrived in Ottawa over the weekend to protest against the federal vaccine mandates for truck drivers crossing the Canada–U.S. border starting on Jan. 15. Conducted between Jan. 27 and Jan. 31, the percentage of supporters shown in the poll paints a different picture from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s, who dismissed the protesters and their supporters as a “fringe minority” during his press conference on Jan. 26.
